Heritage is Serragghia’s golden-amber ode to old vines and place — made from centennial Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria) vines in Pantelleria, on volcanic, sandy soil. These vines are ungrafted or old bush vines, tended biodynamically, farmed by hand, and always with respect for the natural rhythms of the island.
The winemaking is deliberate: Zibibbo grapes see skin maceration (about 20 days) in amphorae, ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, are aged in amphorae (often terracotta) and bottled without filtration, fining, or added sulfur. Each vintage then rests until ready, building texture, depth, and a wide aromatic profile that evolves in bottle. (For 2020 & 2021 especially, note tannic texture, smoke, herbs, bitterness, and vibrant saline notes.)
In the glass, you’ll notice them pushing more than just fruit: the aromas turn intensely floral and citrusy — think orange blossom, tropical and stone fruits — and then they drift into smokiness, salty minerals, bitter herbs, with a long finish that lingers in salted skin or sea air. The texture is rich, layered, with firm skin tannins, but not brutal — there’s a finesse beneath the power (especially in 2021).
