wines

Jean-Marc took over his family’s estate in Rosheim in 2003. At first, he tried different styles, including new oak and wines with a little sweetness. A pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela became a turning point: he came back ready to commit to a more natural way of working, in the vineyard and cellar. By 2008, he was making his first wines without added sulphur.
Today, he farms a patchwork of small parcels around Rosheim, and his curiosity extends beyond the grapes. He has experimented with leaving rows unpruned and letting trees grow among the vines, while keeping the soil largely undisturbed. In the cellar, many of his white wines spend time on their skins and age in old Alsatian casks. That combination gives the wines their particular shape: textured and savoury, with time and air often bringing out more of them.
