wines

Claus grew up in Gols, where his father made a little wine. What started as a hobby with his dad became his own winery in 2002. In the early years, he moved between rented cellars and barns; now he describes his winery as a playground for trying things out. That experimental streak comes through in a range of wines made from many small vineyard plots around Lake Neusiedl, each with its own soil, grape and conditions.
Rather than aim for one house style, Claus lets those differences guide how each wine is made. He farms biodynamically, ferments with native yeasts, and uses different vessels, including amphora, according to the wine. The thread running through the range is a light touch in the cellar, with the character of the grape and vineyard left to show.
